Tata Power, India's largest integrated power pany, has always undertaken various initiatives to sensitise munities about the importance of environment and resource conservation. In line with this philosophy, the Company organised an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav at Borivili Colony, Mumbai, with the objective of promoting munity harmony and spreading awareness on social and environmental issues.

Ganesh Chaturthi is an important festival in Mumbai where Lord Ganesha, the God of beginnings and wisdom, is worshipped for 10 days in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada. To engage with its munities in this auspicious occasion, as well to teach the importance of conservation practices during festivities, Tata Power organised a green Ganeshotsav in Mumbai. To drive this message home, green and eco-friendly materials were used for the festival decoration. The Ganesh idol was made of clay instead of Plaster of Paris, and energy-efficient LED lights, card boards and newspapers were used for pandal decorations. Leaf plates and steel glasses were used instead of plastic, and crackers were barred to ensure minimum noise pollution.

Speaking on this initiative, Mr. Ashok Sethi, COO & ED-Operation, Tata Power, stated, "By organising such eco-friendly petitions, we at Tata Power aim to sensitise the munity on the dire need for environment and resource conservation. It is very encouraging to see people participate in these green initiatives with such enthusiasm."

Tata Power will continue to undertake similar endeavours in the future.
