Club Enerji, Tata Power's nation-wide movement, has been inexhaustibly working towards creating awareness around the need to be responsible citizens by conserving energy resources and instilling moral as well as civic values in young minds. Taking this commitment a step forward, Club Enerji students, in collaboration with students of Queen Mary School, organised an awareness session around 'disaster management' for the differently-abled students of Cheshire Home. Cheshire Home is a mission in dedication to the cause of making a difference in the lives of differently abled and destitute.

The objective of the visit was to educate the students on the various possible crisis- like, a fire outbreak, road incidents, or a natural disaster- and the different ways to tackle them. To deliver the message across, the students used various innovative techniques like a puppet show and a mime performance. A total of 35 students from Queen Mary School, and 15 volunteers from Club Enerji participated in the initiative.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Anil Sardana, MD and CEO, Tata Power, said, 'It gives me immense joy to see that our Club Enerji students are propagating the need for disaster management. I would like to thank all Club Enerji students as well as the participants and faculty of Queen Mary School for their enthusiasm and co-operation in this activity. It was indeed an overwhelming experience to realise that, despite the physical challenges, the residents of Cheshire Home are leading an empowered and independent life. We are happy that we could contribute and bring value to the residents.'

Tata Power Club Enerji recently launched a new online module devised on disaster management. The module is hosted on the Club Enerji website - www.clubenerji.com. The initiative has been contributing extensively towards a brighter and greener tomorrow by undertaking several successful initiatives. The savings of 17.26 MU of electricity is equivalent to saving 17,200 tonne of CO2 for a year. Tata Power's Club Enerji has won numerous accolades and has been recognised as a best practice in forums like Learning Mission by the Tata group. A case study has also been done by IIM Ahmedabad on the programme. Further, it has also won the gold at the ABCI awards in the category 'best communication material' and bronze for its resource conservation module. Also, Asia Pacific Enterprise Leadership Awards, Singapore, has conferred 'APELA 2012 - Eco Advocate Award' to Club Enerji.
