Club Enerji, Tata Power's nationwide movement, has been constantly working towards spreading the message of being responsible citizens by conservation of energy and natural resources across the country. In line with this commitment, Tata Power's Club Enerji students from Sri Ma Bal Niketan High School in Thane East, organised an Awareness Rally in Mumbai, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to create social awareness around the necessity of energy conservation and to commemorate father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. More than 600 students along with the teachers participated in this rally.

The objective of the rally was to educate a large audience about the need for energy conservation, and introduce them to the various ways of conserving energy. In addition to message on energy conservation, the students also shouted slogans for saving the natural resources and environment protection. The student before the rally, assembled to prepare banners, placards, and posters which depicted themes of energy and natural resources conservation. Through this well planned and executed rally the students successfully sensitized 2500 people.

Speaking on this initiative, Mr. Anil Sardana, MD & CEO, Tata Power, said, 'Tata Power's Club Enerji was created with the purpose of molding young minds to make them wiser and more responsible individuals. While we started the initiative, it was the enthusiastic response of students that has enabled Club Enerji to become a movement. On this day of Gandhi Jayanti, we would like to honour the Mahatma and strive to inculcate his teachings and values in our students. We have been successful in reaching out to numerous schools across cities, and such rallies are a step forward in taking our message of conservation to the masses. I take this opportunity to thank the students and management of Shri Ma Bal Niketan High School who made this rally a grand success.'

The Club Enerji initiative has been contributing extensively towards a brighter and greener tomorrow by undertaking several successful initiatives. The savings of 17.26 MUs of electricity is equivalent to saving 17,200 tonne of CO2 for a year. Tata Power's Club Enerji has won numerous accolades and has been recognised as a best practice in forums like Learning Mission by the Tata group. A case study has also been done by IIM Ahmedabad on the programme. Further, it has also won the gold at the ABCI awards in the category 'best communication material' and bronze for its resource conservation module; Asia Pacific Enterprise Leadership Awards (APELA), Singapore, has conferred 'APELA 2012 - Eco Advocate Award' to Club Enerji.
