~ The drinking water facility will benefit close to 45 families in the village belonging to the under-privileged section of the society~

Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always strived to improve the lives of its communities living around its operational areas. In line with this philosophy, Industrial Energy Limited (IEL), a joint venture of Tata Power and Tata Steel, inaugurated a drinking water facility in Jatrapal village of Kalinganagar. The drinking water facility was installed in collaboration with Baitarani Initiative, a local NGO and the initiative was prioritized for the region during the preparation of the Micro Plan for the village through Village Development Committee (VDC). The drinking water facility will benefit close to 45 families in the Jatrapal village.

The drinking water facility was inaugurated by Mr Sharad Baijal, Chief-Corporate Operation (Thermal) along with Mr Vijayant Ranjan, CEO-IEL & Chief Kalinganagar Station. The efforts of IEL were appreciated by Mr Sharad Baijal, Chief-Corporate Operation (Thermal) which will help in the development of local communities and will be more effective in maintaining a sustainable relationship with the communities. The inauguration programme was also graced by the senior officials from the company.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Vijayant Ranjan, CEO, IEL & Chief Kalinganagar Station, said, 'We, at Tata Power, have always strived hard in improving the standard of life of our communities through various interventions in different spheres of life. We will always ensure that our communities are provided with a better and healthier lifestyle by providing them with clean drinking water and other amenities. We are committed to the welfare of our communities and will work in cohesion with them for a long and fruitful relationship.'

The facility will ensure that close to 45 families belonging to the under-privileged section of the society receive clean drinking water. The requirement for such a facility was sketched out during the felid visit from IEL. While interacting with the villagers, the team from IEL pointed that the Jatrapal village is served by a sole tube well for the purpose of drinking water which remains dysfunctional during the summers. The newly implemented facility of drinking water by IEL will ensure that the villagers won't have to venture out to collect drinking water at any point of time in the year.
