Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always been a front-runner in driving the holistic development of its communities. The company lays special emphasis on the education of the youth for a bright future of its communities. In line with the Tata Power Philosophy, Industrial Energy Limited has implemented the Education Excellence Programme, to strengthen the basic knowledge of the poor and back ward classes of the students in Jajpur district of Odisha. The programme is implemented in joint collaboration with CAAD, a leading NGO of Odisha.

The programme has benefitted more than 3000 students from the poor and backward section of the society in improving quality of education in Mathematics, Science and English subject from standard 6th to 10 Students.

The well trained team at Industrial Energy Limited along with the able support of CAAD implemented a pre-programme strategy for smooth sailing of the programme which included identification of the potential Schools in the tribal belt followed by Staff induction and orientation training. The selected teachers then underwent orientation programme for better understanding of the programme before heading for the preliminary meeting with the stakeholders.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Vijayant Ranjan, CEO IEL and Chief, Kalinganagar said, 'Tata Power is committed towards improvement of its communities in every aspect of their life. We engage with them for their holistic development with special emphasis on the education for the future generation. The Education Excellence Programme is one such initiative that aims at providing the necessary platform for the needy students to build a bright future. We will strive even further maximise the reach of the programme to the students.'

The programme was implemented with a structured approach that benefitted more than 3000 students till date. The team ran a Literacy campaign to raise awareness on importance of education in the tribal dominated districts. Relevant study materials are also supplied in local languages for better engagement along with appointment of local teachers and female teachers. While running the programme the students are regularly monitored through examinations and review processes. The students are supported with necessary guidance accordingly.

The programme is expected to serve the requirement of the students at the tribal belt and is aimed at improving their basic knowledge in the prescribed subjects. The programme is also aimed at raising awareness in education and for further studies among the students from the nearby communities.
