Tata Steel : Katamati Iron Mine wins Best Green Organization of the Year Award

Tata Steel's Katamati Iron Mine was conferred the Best Green Organization of the Year Award at the Global Green Future Leadership Awards organized by World CSR Day on February 18, 2017 in Mumbai.

Mr Rahul Kishore, Head (Mining Operations), Katamati Iron Mine, Tata Steel received the award on behalf of Tata Steel from Mr. Jordan Reeves, Consul General of Canada in Mumbai. The Katamati Iron mine has been engaged in environmental protection efforts since years and has successfully implemented Environmental Management System as per the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 and certified thereunder.

Expressing gratitude on receiving award, Mr. Pankaj Satija, General Manager (Ore, Mines & Quarries), Tata Steel said, 'Tata Steel has always been committed towards the environment protection. Our focus has always been responsible environmental practices and optimal resource utilization while upgrading skills of workmen through training as technologies evolve. We are pleased to win the award which reflects and acknowledges our pledge towards a sustainable environment along with safe and sustainable mining processes. At Tata Steel, we have believed in safe and responsible mining, which is the crux of our business philosophy and we are firmly dedicated towards it.'

The Global Green Future Leadership Awards is for any organization that participates in environmentally friendly or green activities to ensure that all processes, products, and manufacturing activities adequately address current environmental concerns while maintaining a profit.
