Taylor Wimpey : Our East Anglia team help The Worry Tree Cafe

A Suffolk mental health support group is a step closer to taking its vital service on the road thanks to a £500 donation from our East Anglia team. The Worry Tree Cafe, based in Framlingham, offers help and friendship to people experiencing mental health problems. The group, which has the backing of singer Ed Sheeran, holds a weekly session at The Day Care Centre in Framlingham where anyone can drop in for a cup of tea and a chat. Through signposting, creative projects and community events, The Worry Tree Cafe aims to combat conditions including depression, anxiety and loneliness. The cafe takes its name from a tree outside the building, where people are encouraged to write down their worries and hang them on a branch before they go inside. It is then their choice whether or not they pick up the worry again on their way out or leave it on the tree. The group is linked to larger organisations such as Mind but is entirely self-funded, so trustees were delighted when the East Anglia region, which is building in Framlingham, offered its support. We donated £500, which will help the group continue its work in the community but will also go towards the purchase of a minibus. Millie Corke, who set up The Worry Tree Cafe because of her own experiences with mental illness, said: 'We're saving for transportation so we can go out for more day trips, which will give people who don't get out very much a bit more confidence. 'For some people, just stepping through the door of the cafe is a huge thing, so being able to take them out with us is massively important as it gives them so much more freedom and independence. We'd like to thank Taylor Wimpey East Anglia for their kind donation - it will make a big difference.'
