Staff from the Oxfordshire regional team took a leap into the unknown when they jumped out of a plane to help children and young people's charity Helen & Douglas House, raising over £11,000 in the process.

Sixteen members of the regional team, including staff from the sales, production and planning departments, took part in a skydive in aid of the charity earlier this year. Most had never tried anything so adventurous, but all put their fears aside to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Helen & Douglas House cares for local terminally ill children, young adults and their families at their hospice in Oxford and at home. They provide medical, emotional and practical support, helping families deal with the implications of living with a child who will die prematurely, so they can make the most of their time together.

Thanks to the hard work of the skydive team and the generous donations of colleagues, friends and family, our Oxfordshire team raised £11,036.81 for the charity - beating the original target of £2,500 by some distance.

Nicola Wilson from Helen & Douglas House said 'We were delighted that Taylor Wimpey entered such a big team for our skydive. The money they raised will make a huge difference to the lives of local terminally-ill children to ensure they live life to the full and parents can create happy memories during their short time together.

'We need to raise £5 million a year to care for our families at the hospice and at home and we cannot do this without the support of amazing companies like Taylor Wimpey. So on behalf of our families, we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who bravely jumped out of a plane to raise money.'

Mark Edmonds, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, added: 'This is the second year we've supported Helen & Douglas House, and we are well aware of the great work they do to help children and young people across our region. We set our staff a fundraising target for the year but they have already raised more than three times that amount, which I am incredibly proud of.

'The charity clearly means a lot to our staff and it's been great to see them working together and encouraging friends and family to donate. We have more events planned through the rest of the year, so I'm looking forward to seeing how much we can raise for this great cause.'
