Taylor Wimpey : Great Western Park community centre handed over

The brand new community centre at our popular Great Western Park development in Didcot, Oxfordshire, has been handed over to South Oxfordshire District Council.

The council is set to open the doors to the community centre soon, offering this brand new facility to the residents of Great Western Park and the wider community to use.

The development consortium, our business unit in Oxfordshire and David Wilson Homes Southern, have built the £350,000 building and associated landscaping to which South Oxfordshire District Council has contributed £140,000.

As well as handing over the building, we have also made a voluntary lump sum payment to the council on behalf of the Great Western Park Residents Association, equal to five years' worth of rent, enabling the association to use the building free of charge and continue to operate.

"We are also delighted to sponsor the Great Western Park Residents Association to support their use of this wonderful community facility."

John Louth, Didcot Town Councillor for the All Saints Ward, says: "This building is a much needed facility in the growing ward and with improved communications, and the town's objectives now being more aligned with the district's, we hope to be able to make significant progress over the coming year by influencing the speedy delivery of more community assets at Great Western Park."
