TelecityGroup further expands pan-European cloud-neutral platform with dedicated network connections into Microsoft Azure's public cloud

TelecityGroup, Europe's leading provider of premium carrier-neutral data centres, today announced the availability of Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute in 37 TelecityGroup locations across Europe, which will provide direct connections to Microsoft Azure's public cloud and offering the broadest European connectivity on the market.

Microsoft Azure, an open and flexible public cloud computing platform, will enable customers to easily build, deploy, and manage applications and services into the cloud. By launching Azure ExpressRoute in TelecityGroup's facilities, customers will have direct connections between their private infrastructure located in TelecityGroup's data centres and Microsoft Azure's cloud platform. This will enable customers to build a flexible and scalable hybrid cloud solution, and benefit from reduced network costs, increased bandwidth throughput, and a more consistent network experience.

The service, accessible to all customers based in TelecityGroup's data centres, builds on TelecityGroup's Cloud-IX platform, a cloud-neutral ecosystem and networking platform enabling customers to fully leverage the potential of the cloud with flexible and scalable public, private and hybrid cloud solutions. Cloud-IX enables businesses to make sophisticated choices around the deployment of their applications, without restrictions due to data sovereignty or vendor lock-in. By integrating hybrid platforms with the cloud providers of their choice, the platform allows customers to seamlessly connect to, and between, cloud providers, physical systems and networks as part of TelecityGroup's vibrant digital ecosystem.

With Azure ExpressRoute and Cloud-IX, customers will be able to establish a local and private connection to Microsoft Azure from any of TelecityGroup's 37 European facilities, and low-latency connections will be available in locations where Microsoft co-locates its ExpressRoute access points within TelecityGroup's data centres. In addition, through the avoidance of a connection to the public internet, Azure ExpressRoute via Cloud-IX will offer increased reliability, faster speeds, lower latencies and higher security compared to other connections over the Internet.

Steven Martin, General Manager of Microsoft Azure says: "Our expansion into TelecityGroup's data centres via ExpressRoute is an important step, enabling customers to more easily execute scalable hybrid cloud deployments. We look forward to expanding access to Azure, via Cloud-IX and Azure ExpressRoute, through TelecityGroup's extensive data centre footprint."

Michael Tobin, CEO of TelecityGroup, says: "Offering our customers direct connections to Microsoft Azure, via our Cloud-IX platform, strengthens and improves the already rich ecosystem found in our data centres, and offers businesses a choice of cloud solutions that best suits their specific business needs. This exciting strategic relationship with Microsoft ensures that TelecityGroup remains the data centre of choice for businesses seeking secure, high performing connectivity across Europe and beyond."
