Modern technologies offer many options, but they develop so rapidly that it can be difficult to keep track of them. Telefónica Czech Republic therefore introduced new employees, so-called O2 Gurus, in its stores at the beginning of April.

Their task is not to sell, but to help and inspire people to use new technologies. The benefit of O2 Gurus is that they do not speak technical language and are able to advise absolulely everyone. They demonstrate to those interested on practical examples how new technologies can make life easier or bring interesting benefits. Giving advice is not the only task for O2 Gurus, though. All O2 Gurus have also been trained for work with handicapped customers. They are ready to help these customers with the mobile phone setting that will enable everyone to try out the benefits offered by new technologies.

Why O2 Guru?

As the latest survey by Datark indicates, only one in five Czech users uses all the options offered by the handsets and applications. Almost 40 % of all users have stated that they are using smartphones, but mostly just for making calls and texting. Smartphone sales are growing continually. O2 predicts that smartphones will account for up to 75 % of all mobile phone sales in the Czech Republic in 2012.

The enquiries made by customers to the operators correspond to this trend. " Over the last year the number of enquiries to our call centres related to smartphones increased ten times. The questions concern primarily the setting of Internet in mobiles or MMS configuration. Due to this and other factors, we found out that experts who would help people and inspire them to use new technologies are still missing on the Czech market. We want to convince the public that O2 stores are a unique place where people may come for advice or help with the setting of the device or application that they are using," said Ji
