Launches Shop in A Box solution offering for retailers

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) provided yet another tool for local SMEs to empower their businesses with the launch of its latest retail solution offering, Shop in A Box today. This launch also reflects TM's continuous efforts in encouraging ICT adoption among SMEs in Malaysia. 

The new solution for SME was officially launched by Dato' Sri Dr. Halim Shafie, Chairman of TM together with Azizi A Hadi, Executive Vice President, SME, TM.

As part of the launch, Dato' Sri Dr. Halim demonstrated how he can now use a debit card to purchase various items, from an IT gadget, kain pelekat and even lemang via the new solution.

In his speech, Azizi explained, "Shop in A Box is a complete retail solution that will enable retailers to increase productivity and subsequently their business profits by using simple yet affordable, bundled value added services. With more than 70% of our SME customers coming from Retail industry, Shop in A Box offers them a number of service clusters such as payment  and collection solution, market reach, customer experience and many more that will be unveiled from time-to-time. For today's event, we are launching the much anticipated types of services under the payment and collection solution cluster, namely SurePay and SurePay Point of Sale (POS). The two services provide payment flexibility and convenience especially for small businesses in the suburban areas. It also serves as a pulling factor to attract customers who prefers to go cashless for their shopping preference. As we have mentioned before, we are committed in providing you with enhanced customer experience with our Business Made Easier offerings, in line with our aspiration to become the preferred ICT partner for SME in Malaysia by 2016."

Powered by TM's broadband connectivity, SurePay and SurePay POS payment solutions utilise Online Payment System (TM Electronic Payment Gateway) and Mobile Payment System (TM Mobile Payment System). SurePay enables businesses to receive payment through online channels either via credit or debit card, while SurePay POS uses Point-Of-Sales and payment solution that will allow merchants to accept cash, debit and credit card payments. 

The solution is also a business enabler to empower small and medium businesses, enabling them to increase their sales, enhance their productivity and attain wider market reach.

To introduce Shop in A Box to SMEs nationwide, TM has lined up a series of on-ground marketing activities including a nationwide roadshow, starting from 1 October called SME Mega Bazaar. During the roadshow, business areas such as a Pasar Siti Khadijah, Kelantan and Pasar Payang, Terengganu has been identified as the venues for the team to demonstrate and showcase Shop in A Box to the local merchants.

At the same time, 18 selected TMpoint outlets across the country with designated SME Corners and SME Consultants will also showcase the SurePay devices, giving potential SME customers hands-on demonstration of the SurePay solution. 

As an introductory promotion, TM announced a 3-month waiver of the SurePay monthly fee for all subscriptions made between today, the launch date until 30 November 2014.

Azizi also expressed TM's appreciation to partners that enabled the offering of SurePay and SurePay POS solutions - ManagePay Services Sdn. Bhd. and Ebizu Sdn. Bhd.

"TM in its aspiration to assist SMEs to achieve better business performance by providing high quality access and connectivity, will continue innovating to come up with resourceful value added solutions and ICT related services. We hope that more SMEs will benefit from the opportunities and avenues opened up by TM towards enhancing their business activities," concluded Azizi.

As part of its effort to promote ICT solutions, TM will also be participating in the upcoming #MYCyberSale, Malaysia's biggest online sale event, as a premium partner that will be held from 29 September until 1 October 2014. The event, initiated by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) is the world's first government-lead online sales event that will include participation from 4,500 merchants featuring 225,000 online deals with discounts of up to 90%.
