The Nordic and Baltic region is considered to be one of the world's most connected places and home to quite a few tech-savvy early adopters. This means that there's a strong demand for the digital latest, not the least among companies and organizations looking to find new revenues or savings through digital transformation.

- We see that companies and organizations in our part of the world are ahead in embracing and using technology to drive new business and innovation, and on our newest IoT Networks (NBIoT) we already have some 40 customers testing their solutions across the Nordics. But when considering the potential, then we're only at the beginning of full-scale IoT deployment, and that is where access to scalable hosted IoT Platforms becomes important. This will change things for real, says Björn Hansen, Head of Enterprise and Public IoT, Telia Division X.

'Accelerate digitalization'

To meet customers' future digital needs, Telia and Microsoft are now partnering up to address the full IoT space, with Telia's best of breed IoT Platform based heavily on Microsoft Azure. Together, the two companies basically can meet any type of IoT need, ranging from basic device connectivity, to tailored customer solutions with data analytics and storage.

- I'm really happy to team up with Microsoft and thereby be able to offer the most advanced IoT platform on the market, truly enterprise grade. IoT has started to move from pilots, experiments and innovation to commercialization and solutions. With Microsoft we're set to accelerate our customers' digitalization journey and bring them to the next level, says Björn Hansen.

-We're very proud to join forces with Telia to co-create a new innovative platform that allows customers to further expand and explore the possibilities within IoT, data and cloud services in a secure environment, says Annica Wallenbro Stojcevski, Business Group Lead for Data, AI and Cloud at Microsoft

Internet of Taps saves water and money

Telia's IoT platform is already in use with several customers, including FM Mattsson Mora Group, Sweden's leading tap manufacturer and world renowned for its technical solutions for water mixers. During an innovation project, mixers in public bathrooms have been equipped with sensors and connected to Telia's IoT platform via the mobile network. Data from the mixers is then analyzed and visualized in the platform.

- This is giving us new insights on how digitalization can provide smarter ways to maintain public installations, with environmental savings and more cost efficient services to our customers as a result, says Frank Rälg, Business Development Manager, FM Mattsson Mora Group.
