In addition to being the only operator in the country with this level of 4G coverage, Omnitel is the only operator in Lithuania to offer the fastest 4G connectivity to residents in the remote Panemunė region, bordering the Kaliningrad Oblast.
'We are very happy to have reached the natural limit of 4G coverage in Lithuania before the deployment of the next generation 5G connectivity. Until then we will continue to increase the network capacity and speed for our mobile data users. Lithuania is a world leader when it comes to mobile connectivity and we're therefore proud to lead the way in this market,' said Mindaugas Varanauskas, Head of Network at Omnitel and Teo.
Omnitel has taken a number of steps in recent years to reach this milestone. This year alone, Omnitel has added 300 new 4G base stations to its existing1000 4G base stations across Lithuania. A few weeks ago it increased the speed of 4G LTE technology in Vilnius and surrounding areas by 30 per cent and informed that the speed of its mobile internet would be increased throughout the whole territory of Lithuania.
In February of this year, Omnitel was the first operator in the Baltic countries - and one of the first operators in the world - to take a step towards the future generation of 5G mobile communication by implementing the latest mobile technology - 4.5G.
