Telstra today signed a contract with NBN Co to provide planning and design services to support the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout.

The contract term is up to four years and the estimated gross contract value, based on Telstra's estimate of the volume of work it will be awarded by NBN Co, is up to approximately $390 million. The contract value will also be subject to the rate of progress in the NBN rollout and the outcome of future price reviews under the terms of the contract.

Chief Operations Officer Kate McKenzie said under the contract Telstra would prepare network plans and designs to support NBN Co's multi-technology mix NBN rollout, including fibre to the node, fibre to the basement and fibre to the premises.

"We're pleased to have won this work in a competitive market and we look forward to working with NBN Co to help it prepare for the construction of the next phase of the NBN," Ms McKenzie said.

Telstra also remains in discussion with NBN Co on the provision of construction and maintenance services by Telstra to NBN Co on commercial terms.
