TELUS gives $100,000 to the Saskatchewan Cancer
Agency to upgrade the kids' cancer treatment area;
announces fundraising extension through
December
Saskatoon, SK - TELUS is contributing $100,000 to the
Saskatchewan Cancer Agency thanks to TELUS' Phones for Good
campaign, which gave $100 on behalf of every new TELUS
smartphone customer in Saskatchewan for the last
year.
"Cancer care is about partnerships and working
together," said Scott Livingstone, Saskatchewan Cancer
Agency Chief Executive Officer. "We are grateful for the
support of TELUS and the people of Saskatchewan who are
helping to make a difference in the lives of cancer
patients."
The funds will help with the renovation of the
Saskatchewan Cancer Agency's paediatric cancer treatment
center in Saskatoon, transforming the space into an
inviting, serene space that is appealing to kids of all
ages. The gift from TELUS and its customers will make the
space warm and welcoming, helping kids feel as comfortable
as possible during their many hours spent receiving rounds
of treatment.
"Today, I'm proud to announce the beginning of a new
TELUS Phones for Good campaign running through to December
that will further support the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency
and continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of
children and their families in Saskatchewan," said Shaun
Brennan, TELUS Business Solutions manager in Saskatoon.
"Campaigns like this support both our philosophy to give
where we live and showcase our focus on helping youth - not
only does TELUS' Phones for Good campaign satisfy our
customers' thirst for the latest technology, but it also
allows us to support critically important life-saving
organizations like the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency."
TELUS has been a long-time supporter of charities
that advance cancer research, awareness and detection.
Since 2000, TELUS, its team members and retirees across
Canada have contributed more than $13 million towards
finding a cure for cancer, and continue to raise funds and
awareness for early detection. In 2010, TELUS
presented the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency with $37,000
raised as part of its 'Go Pink campaign,' with funds
earmarked for the purchase of digital mammography
equipment.
