TORONTO - Travelling south of the border this summer? You're not alone. The United States tops the list of the most popular travel destinations for Canadians. And starting today, visiting the US and staying connected to friends, colleagues and family back home just got easier with the launch of US Easy Roam. With US Easy Roam, customers travelling to the US can take their devices along with them on their American adventures without the fear of bill shock when they return home. Available to customers on TELUS consumer monthly wireless postpaid rate plans, US Easy Roam is an optional service giving customers the ability to use their rate plan while in the US for $7 a day. Once added to their device, US Easy Roam will grant access to voice minutes, text messages and data allotment included as part of the customer's existing rate plan.

"Customers have told us that roaming is where they want us to provide more value and convenience, and we have responded," said Kevin Banderk, vice-president, Mobility Marketing, TELUS. "We know our customers expect more and with US Easy Roam, customers on most monthly rate plans can easily and freely use their mobile devices just like they do at home without the need to add travel passes prior to each trip and removes the fear of unexpected roaming charges."

US Easy Roam is a cost-effective roaming option for short to medium-length trips to the US. Customers are charged $7 for each day they use their plan in the US. US Easy Roam is also very customer friendly in that if a customer exceeds their rate plan's minute, text and data limits while in the US, Canadian rate plan's pay-per-use rates will apply instead of US pay-per-use rates.

As part of TELUS' Customers First philosophy TELUS listens to customers and creates new products and services based on their input. We are continuously improving the roaming experience and implementing simple programs to protect customers while travelling abroad:

  • TELUS offers a range of simple US and International travel passes at different tiers for varying usage
  • TELUS will send customers free real-time text messages notifying them of their data roaming usage at varying levels of usage and to manage unexpected charges, TELUS will block a customer's data usage after a certain amount, giving the customer the control to either stop or continue using data while roaming.
  • Customers are also able to manage their data usage through the TELUS My Account app and via their online account

Customers can easily add US Easy Roam to their device by texting TRAVEL to 7626 or by logging onto their TELUS Account and viewing roaming options.
