TELUS (TSX:T)(NYSE:TU) today announced the appointment of local business executive Shane Sabatino to its senior leadership team as President of TELUS Sourcing Solutions (TSSI), which delivers fully integrated human resources, payroll, wellness and employee contact centre technology solutions to the organization's business customers.

With nearly 25 years' experience in human resources, including 10 years in leadership roles within TELUS, Shane rejoins the organization after most recently serving as Senior Vice President, Human Resources with The Brick. Based in Edmonton, Shane will grow the human resources solutions business, which supports large organizations across Canada, while also supporting TELUS Health's key projects across the province.

"Shane is the right person to lead our Employer Solutions business that delivers innovative, integrated technology services to our customers," said Paul Lepage, President of TELUS Health and an advisor for the Edmonton Health City initiative. "Shane is highly regarded for his drive, leadership acumen, strong work ethic and focus on innovation. He is an excellent addition to our leadership team and I look forward to supporting him and leveraging his presence in Edmonton to drive key healthcare initiatives in the region."

In addition to his business role, Shane will also join TELUS' Edmonton Community Board in early 2017. Shane has been actively involved in his community, both with his children's sports and school initiatives as well as with the Stollery Children's Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network.

"Our roots in Alberta are deep and our commitment to the province's economic growth and diversification is stronger than ever as further evidenced today by Shane's appointment," said Josh Blair, President, TELUS Business Solutions West and Chief Corporate Officer, TELUS. "From 2000 to the end of 2019, TELUS will have invested $46 billion to bring Albertans the most advanced broadband wireless and wireline technology solutions - creating diverse jobs and expanding access to economic, social, educational and health opportunities."

Today's news follows last week's announcements that TELUS is offering $9.95 monthly Internet service to single-parent families receiving income or disability assistance from the provincial government as well as hiring nearly 100 new team members in Calgary and Edmonton by January 2017. The majority of these new positions will provide customer service directly to its mobile customers. Currently, 6,000 TELUS team members and 8,000 retirees call Alberta home.
