Tenaris : Alberta Premier tours Tenaris pipe operations in Calgary

Alberta Premier Rachel Notley and Finance Minister Joseph Ceci toured Tenaris's Prudential facility on February 9 to get a firsthand look at local manufacturing operations that support Canada's energy sector.

Notley and Ceci met with the Canadian executive team members of Tenaris and the United Steelworkers Local Union 7226 before touring the facility. With Tenaris's cross-Canada approach to manufacturing, the group discussed the critical links between domestic manufacturing and the national energy industry.

'The hardworking people at Tenaris's Prudential facility are nation builders. They get why Canadian energy matters. They're not just helping to develop our energy resources safely, they're helping create good jobs for people and better lives for all Canadians,' said Alberta Premier Rachel Notley. 'When other governments try to stand in the way of our resources, they need to know they are standing in the way of working people like the folks at Tenaris.'

Tenaris's Prudential facility, along with its seamless pipe mill in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, are critical to the company's Rig Direct^® service model of delivering pipe produced at its local mills directly to customer well sites, when and where it's needed. The company employs a Canadian supply chain for its production that spans from Northern Quebec to Central Canada to Western Canada, generating value to its customers, the economy and the environment.

The tour highlighted the use of steel coil to manufacture welded pipe used in the development of oil and gas. It concluded with a meet and greet together with employees.

Tenaris's Prudential facility has been operating in Calgary for more than 50 years. In Alberta, Tenaris also has a threading and accessories facility in Nisku, as well as service centres in Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray and Edmonton. Service centres are expanding to Bienfait, Saskatchewan and St John's, Newfoundland.
