Repsol has recently run BlueDock™ connectors with elastomeric seals in Trinidad and Tobago. The operation took place in the Arima 2 well, on a Jackup platform at a water depth of 283 feet. This also marked the first time that the connector was used in 30" pipes.

"The BlueDock™ connector showed good performance in running times, an effective installation of the anti-rotation device and demonstrated to be an overall solution for the customer's requirements: mechanical resistance, sealability and connector stability," said Alberto Acuña, Tenaris Sales Coordinator for Central America & Caribbean.

A total of 19 joints of 30" OD x 1.000" Wt API 5L X56 conductor casing and 41 joints of 20" OD x 0.625" Wt grade API 5L X56 surface casing were installed with zero rejects at a total length of 750 ft and 2,000 ft respectively in the Arima 2 well on the Rowan Gorilla III platform.

Tenaris field service specialists Fernando Ribeiro from Brazil and Wilton López from Colombia assisted throughout the entire whole operation. "To overcome some well restrictions, the BlueDock™ connector was subjected to extensive cyclic loads (tension and compression.) After the final successful pressure test, it was possible to prove the sealability and mechanical performance met the customer requirements," said Ribeiro.

"This operation represents a very important step in our strategy to consolidate the BlueDock™ connector in the global market. It also confirms our capacity to offer the whole package from a well design for our customers and all products from conductor casing to tubing," said Luis Olivares, BlueDock™ connector project director.

BlueDock™ connectors, manufactured at Tenaris's welded pipe mill in Brazil, draw on TenarisHydril's extensive expertise in proprietary connection design and experience in welding and pipe manufacturing.

The weld-on connectors ensure easy stabbing and trouble-free make-up for fast and reliable running along with 100% ratings in tension, compression and bending. They have also undergone sealability tests based on ISO 13679 standards, as well as full-scale make-and-break tests.
