Seven Generations Energy Inc. and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce joined Tenaris last week to discuss the importance of building a strong manufacturing industry along with oil and gas development in Canada.

In a day focused on linking the development of resources with a strong domestic supply chain, Tenaris hosted a tour of its seamless pipe manufacturing mill in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to help explain the local contribution to resource development and to demonstrate how the input and output of the facility links to other Canadian cities.

Following the tour, the latest version in a series of Canadian Chamber of Commerce's 'Resource Cities' infographics was launched. This particular infographic highlights how Sault Ste. Marie is home to one of Canada's largest manufacturing sectors - the steel industry, including steel products for oil and gas development.

'Sault Ste. Marie perfectly represents what we mean when we talk about a Resource City. It is a leader in the development and transformation of natural resources, and it also serves as the centre of a country-wide supply chain,' explained the Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. 'At the centre of the city's development is Tenaris, and we thank them for their partnership at this event today,' he continued.

'A strong and competitive Canadian economy will ensure that companies like Tenaris can continue their work, expand their activities and create more jobs. That's why we developed the Canada's Resource Champions initiative.

'Let's spread the message that Canada's resource sector drives the economy of every region and spurs innovation, science and trade. We're working to build a stronger Canada. A Canada that wins. Here in SSM this is what it looks like.'

Guillermo Moreno, Vice President and Managing Director, Canada, agreed, saying, 'Oil and gas development is not just development in western Canada. It is development in Sault Ste. Marie, investing in the community.'
