A new state-of-the-art threading line is now operational at Tenaris's mill in Colombia. This marks the completion of the first phase of a three-part, $200 million investment in the Cartagena de las Indias facility. This expansion project, first announced in 2012, will also include a new heat treatment line as well as cutting-edge technology for ultrasonic inspection and finishing.

The new threading line, which meets the industry's highest standards for safety, efficiency, and environmental impact, has the capacity to thread 100,000 tons of pipes per year.  This new line will thread TenarisHydril Blue® premium connections and TenarisXP™ Buttress connections as well as API standard connections.

With faster speeds and the ability to conduct magnetic particle inspection, the new threading line will allow the mill to manufacture high-quality pipe more efficiently. The mill currently has the ability to produce 160,000 tons of steel pipes annually, including casing, tubing, and line pipe. The expansion project now underway will increase and diversify production, helping to meet the heightened demand of Colombia's growing energy sector and providing sophisticated tubular goods for export.
