Tenaris is at Rio Oil and Gas from September 15 -18 presenting solutions for the oil and gas industry.  The products highlighed include OCTG, line pipe, premium connections, coatings, and a broad range of services that support customer operations. This expertise starts at Tenaris's worldwide network of R&D Centers inlcuding a recently inaugurated location in Rio de Janeiro, at the UFRJ Technological Park.

Tenaris offers X65 sour service steel grade for the offshore line pipe market, suitable for highly corrosive environments. The pipes produced with this technology are used to transport natural gas produced in Pre-Salt operations, which has high rates of contaminants such as H2S and CO2.

Tenaris also recently prepared its production unit in Pindamonhangaba (Sao Paulo) to supply a new technology that significantly enhances the collapse resistance of the pipes. In order to respond to the demands of Pre-Salt operations in great depths, Tenaris made significant investments in the production of pipes with high wall thicknesses.  An investment of US$ 180 million in new U-O presses enabled Tenaris to supply 100% of Petrobras' Rota 3 pipeline.

"We are constantly preparing ourselves to be part of the development of the energy industry in Brazil," said Renato Catallini, president of Tenaris in Brazil. "We invest in the innovation of our processes and the diversification of our products in search of the excellence and technology leadership that our customers demand."

Another important investment for the line pipe market was the recent acquisition of Tenaris's remaining 50% of the participation of Socotherm Brasil, which belonged to Socotherm Americas - a division of ShawCor. As of September 4, 2014, Tenaris became the owner of 100% of the shares of the company, with full autonomy for the coating business. Its range of solutions for coatings, produced in the welded pipes facility, is now offered to the market under the Tenaris brand. "The full integration of this coating plant into our operations will allow Tenaris to offer even more complete pipe and coating solutions for the world market," said Catallini.

Among the solutions for the OCTG market being showcased is the TenarisHydril Wedge 623TM connection, which was developed to comply with recent changes in deepwater operating requirements in the Gulf of Mexico. According to Robson Silva, Tenaris Technical Sales Manager for Brazil, "the metal-to-metal seal and the compression ratings of this connection satisfy the most complex high pressure, deep-water connection applications, or the HP/HT wells."

Another product being shown at Rio Oil & Gas is the TenarisHydril BlueDock™ conector which is an integral solution based on Tenaris's expertise in pipe and premium connection manufacturing processes. The BlueDock™ connector is produced locally in Brazil and complements Tenaris's offer for offshore.

With 27 countries participating, the 2014 edition of the Rio Oil & Gas Expo and Conference will feature 4,400 speakers and 1,300 exhibitors, helping to enrich the discussion of new practices and innovations in the oil and gas industry in Brazil and the world.
