During August and September, Tenaris is launching two new courses on the edX platform for massive open online courses (MOOCs). These courses have been produced by Tenaris's corporate university, in collaboration with edX, a not-for-profit online learning initiative founded by Harvard and MIT and are open to the public.

In "Introduction to Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG)," three experts from the Tenaris Technical Sales team, Mario Vespa, Julie Mathis, and Tomas Castiñeiras, run participants through the selection and application of steel casing, tubing and connections for oil and gas drilling operations. The course starts on August 18 and runs for three weeks.

As a follow-up, the second course, "Introduction to Running Pipe in Oil and Gas Wells," will explain how to prepare and install OCTG in oil and gas wells safely. It will illustrate best practices that contribute to operational reliability, efficiency, as well as minimizing environmental impact. The course, hosted and taught by John Mennie, one of our field service experts, with Mario Vespa, begins on September 22 and runs for two weeks.

"This collaboration with edX has been very fruitful, as it has introduced us to the highest standards of learning methodologies for developing people both inside the company and in the community," said Rolando Lange, TenarisUniversity Director. "We will continue to innovate, applying our continuous improvement philosophy, and I invite everyone to never stop learning."
