CorpU, a US-based organization devoted to corporate learning innovation presented Tenaris with two awards for its corporate university's long-distance training activities.

CorpU commended TenarisUniversity for deploying webinars as a strategic training tool and for striking a learning partnership with The University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom.

"Webinars proved to be a strategic training tool for Tenaris, for many reasons," explains Carla Trangoni, Learning Methodologies at TenarisUniversity. "They allow for the sharing of knowledge across the entire company and are especially crucial for employees working in locations where there are no TenarisUniversity facilities."

Last year, TenarisUniversity reached the 300-webinar landmark. The award application mentioned a webinar on Contractual Terms and Conditions delivered to Commercial employees in about 20 different countries.

The second award went to an alliance Tenaris established with The University of Sheffield in order to deliver a course on "Thermo-Mechanical Processing of Metals."

The University of Sheffield's Department of Materials Sciences and Engineering is located in a city that can trace its heritage in steel back to the first Industrial Revolution. The partnership was born out of Tenaris's need to develop employees in the Research & Development and Hot Rolling areas in high temperature and metal shaping processes.

"The Sheffield experience opened doors for us to participate in new ground breaking online projects," said Rolando Lange, TenarisUniversity Director. "That's why we became the first company to be included in the edX project, a massive open online course (MOOC) platform founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Our goal is to continue to innovate."

The awards were presented during the organization's three-day Global Leadership Conference at Georgetown University. Head of Tenaris's Industrial School Eduardo Altschuler, School of Management Dean María Laura Garcia and Learning Methodologies Coordinator Ingrid Urman received the awards on behalf of TenarisUniversity.
