June 29, 2016

Recently, the Canadian National Railway (CN) named Tenaris a 2016 EcoConnexions Partner. The EcoConnexions program promotes sustainability, environmental and social responsibility at CN and its suppliers. This year, 22 partners were added to the program, which was originally developed to encourage environmental awareness among CN employees.

Along with Tree Canada, CN will plant 100,000 trees in Canada to recognize the efforts of suppliers' sustainable business practices. At a tree planting ceremony, Tenaris representatives Fabio Tonolini, Supply Chain Director- Canada, and Ignacio Arias, Distribution and Logistics Manager- Canada, joined other partners to kick off the process.

'This program recognizes a commitment to environmental sustainability from Tenaris and CN,' said Tonolini. 'It also confirms that the strategic partnership we have built over the last few years is based on shared values like safety, quality, employee training and customer service.'

Over the last few years, Tenaris's Canadian operations have made a commitment to utilize rail over trucking for the majority of its shipments from the mill to service centers. Using rail reduces greenhouse gas emissions, while also providing health and safety benefits with reduced handling and, consequently, a lower risk of safety incidents.
