Tenaris : inaugurates new Dopeless® technology line at Aberdeen threading facility

Tenaris inaugurated its new fully automated Dopeless® technology line on May 4 at its threading facility in Aberdeen.

The $4.5 million USD investment increases the plant's Dopeless® production capacity per year to 10,800 pieces from 3,600. It allows Tenaris to better serve customers operating in extreme conditions with a technology that increases operational efficiency, improves safety, minimizes the environmental impact of drilling and reduces costs.

Dopeless® technology - first introduced in 2003 in the North Sea - is a dry, multifunctional coating applied in a fully automated process. This ensures the precise amount of dry lubricant is applied.

The benefits of using a dope-free product extend from the mill to the rig site: less pipe handling is required, reduces running times, improves reliability of the running, and with zero discharge of materials, creates a safer, cleaner work environment.

Tenaris offers a wide range of connections, field proven in extreme offshore environments, that use Dopeless® technology: TenarisHydril Blue® Series - Blue®, Blue ® Max, Blue® Heavy Wall and Blue® Quick Seal, along with Wedge Series 500™ and Wedge Series 600™.

Tenaris has been serving oil and gas customers in the North Sea region since the 1970's. It has commercial offices in Aberdeen, London, Norway and Denmark, as well as a threading facility in Aberdeen, which manufactures and repairs TenarisHydril premium connections. Tenaris expanded its service center in Esbjerg, Denmark, in 2015, and opened a new office and yard in Norway. Tenaris is also expanding its footprint in Aberdeen with a new service center, projected to begin operations in 2017.
