Users of the Interactive GALA digital television (IPTV)
services provided by TEO LT, AB, the largest provider of
integrated telecommunication, IT and television services in
Lithuania, will from now on be able to watch millions of
videos available on the YouTube website right on their TV
screens.
During last year alone, over 15 million hours of videos -
music videos, short films or funny video stories - were
uploaded to YouTube. Over 48 hours of video are uploaded to
this website every single minute of the day.
According to Nerijus Ivanauskas, Chief Marketing Officer of
TEO, interactive TV technologies enable to deliver almost
all popular Internet content - social networking websites
or the news available on news portals, even videos of
video-sharing websites - to TV screens.
With the help of this service, Interactive GALA users will
be able, by using their TV remote controls, to sign in to
their profiles on YouTube and to access the lists of their
favourite video records. "The first customers to try
out the service took the opportunity to spend evenings
watching music videos, sporting events or just funny
situation videos", - N. Ivanauskas said.
YouTube videos will be displayed on the TV screen
conveniently grouped into categories, so it will be
possible to select the desired video quality - either High
Definition (HD) or Standard Definition (SD).
The new service will be available for use to those users of
Interactive GALA TV who have Motorola VIP 1003 set-top
boxes. To other users of Interactive GALA, TEO will offer
favourable opportunities to change their existing set-top
boxes.
Users of the Interactive GALA digital television (IPTV)
services, which are provided in most cities of Lithuania,
can watch more than 80 entertainment, cognitive, sports,
news, and high-definition television (HDTV) channels. The
interactive technology-based services allow users, without
using any extra equipment, to record their favourite TV
programmes and watch them at desired times, to use the
Virtual Video-On-Demand services, to read news published on
news portals and Facebook, listen to radio, read their
horoscopes, weather forecasts, or sing Karaoke.
Users of the Digital GALA TV services, broadcasted via
digital terrestrial (DVB-T) networks in nearly the whole of
Lithuania, can watch up to 40 channels in Lithuanian,
English, Russian and other languages.
