DAYTON, Ohio - Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the big data analytics and marketing applications company, announced today that Stephen Brobst, Teradata Chief Technology Officer, has been selected by ExecRank as the number four U.S. chief technology officer (CTO) for 2014. ExecRank screened over 2,500 Chief Technology Officers from among more than 10,000 CTOs in the United States. The top three CTO's named for 2014 hold positions with Amazon.com, Tesla Motors, and Intel

These rankings are based on statistical and algorithmic analysis of executive and company performance and are the result of research and feedback from evaluation committees and top Chief Technology Officers. Brobst was ranked number 14 in 2012.

According to Chris Beaver, Managing Director of ExecRank, "We are extremely impressed with the continuing achievements of Stephen Brobst. His work and reputation are highly regarded in his industry and among other Chief Technology Officers."

ExecRank's Top Chief Technology Officers Ranking for 2014 placed a premium on experience and track record when considering the Chief Technology Officers, but focused most on CTO's who took bold steps to help their companies gain greater influence and leadership in their respective fields. ExecRank weighed heavily the recommendations provided by the CEOs of its finalists.

A key member of Teradata's executive leadership, Brobst is a trusted advisor, educator and respected visionary in the field of big data analytics. As CTO, Brobst continues to make a global impact on the practice of information technology, providing guidance to Teradata and advising Fortune 500 companies and government organizations.

"This honor accrues to the whole Teradata R&D organization -- a team that exhibits passion and dedication to bringing best-of-breed analytics to the world's most sophisticated enterprises," said Brobst. "Thanks to all of them and also to ExecRank for recognizing the team's innovation in the domain of Big Data analytics."

Brobst has served as a contributor on the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program Review Working Group supporting the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. He joined Teradata's executive team in October of 1999. Previously, he successfully launched three start-up companies related to high-end database products and services in the data warehousing and e-business marketplaces: Tanning Technology Corporation (IPO on NASDAQ), NexTek Solutions (acquired by IBM) and Strategic Technologies & Systems (acquired by NCR).

He performed his graduate work in computer science at MIT, where his master's and Ph.D. research focused on high-performance parallel processing. He also completed an MBA with joint course and thesis work at the Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Stephen has served on the The Data Warehousing Institute faculty since 1996.
