Skills, innovation and sustainability for new generations

Focus on growth of high-potential leading talent through recruitment and development of human resources. This is the objective of the training project launched by Terna, the company which manages the Italian national transmission grid and leading operator at the global level, together with LUISS, the university which bears the name of Guido Carli, and sits amongst the top private institutions in national rankings. This collaboration demonstrates the desire to create a constructive cycle bringing together the business and academic worlds, supporting development of professional talent ready to enter the world of employment and contribute to Italy's necessary growth.

The partnership was presented today at the Villa Blanc site of LUISS university. Various speakers were present, including: Terna CEO, Luigi Ferraris, the University Chancellor, Paola Severino, the General Director of LUISS, Giovanni Lo Storto and the Pro Vice-Chancellor of LUISS, Andrea Prencipe.

Terna is promoting two important initiatives alongside LUISS: 'Future Project Leaders', aimed at young talents already with the company, and 'International Training Program', aimed at engineering and/or economics students from international universities.

The first project will see the identification of outstanding young talent already with the company as 'future Project CEOs', guiding such individuals towards specific training programmes. Through its Business School, LUISS will work with Terna to design a challenging managerial training path with the objective of offering future Project CEOs the opportunity to complete globally-recognised certifications (PMP®-PMI).

The second, called the International Training Program, will allow Terna, once a year, to select the top engineering and economics students from non-EU states, South America in particular (where Terna is working on important electrical infrastructure), offering a high-level programme which helps young students strengthen their leadership potential and acquire the new skills required in the energy sector. Also in this case, LUISS will provide Terna with important training support in terms of selection of local talent and offer them an efficient learning methodology.

Once this phase is complete, the new graduates will have the opportunity to enter the company and share their knowledge, both strengthening Terna's ability to operate in an international context, and contributing to sustainable growth in their home countries.

CEO and General Manager of Terna, Luigi Ferraris: 'This collaboration with LUISS is the product of an awareness that investing in training and recruitment of young people in the world of employment represents a fundamental step in the path to generating value for the whole country. The programmes launched will not only support business development and a culture of innovation, but will also contribute to the creation of future professional excellence in the energy sector'.

University Chancellor Paola Severino: 'Educating global talent through international programmes which support the growth and development of a future generation of professionals who are capable of successfully interpreting and tackling global economic challenges with a long-term perspective is one of the objectives which our institution has always pursued. With Terna, the theme of recruiting and development of human capital takes on an even more effective and concrete aspect, with cutting-edge educational programmes and a very strong focus on sustainability.'

General Director of LUISS, Giovanni Lo Storto: 'This partnership represents concrete support for young talent who need to gain wide-ranging skills and a new set of tools in order to build future employment. Alongside Terna, we have invested not only in training future managers, but also in training paths dedicated to millennials. In coming months over 1,000 students from 27 secondary schools across the territory will experience an integrated and innovative learning approach, alternating between school and work, at the new Milano LUISS Hub for makers and students'
