Terna has been awarded an international tender for creation of 220 km of power lines in Uruguay

In the scope of its international business, Terna has been awarded the contract by UTE - a vertically integrated, state-owned company which manages the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity in Uruguay - for the construction of three new electricity infrastructures.

More specifically, Terna will create a 500 kV line, 213 km long, from Melo to Tacuarembo, to increase the efficiency and security of the national electricity grid in Uruguay, to promote energy diversification, and to support the integration of renewable production in the north of the country, namely wind power and biomass energy. Furthermore, another two lines will be created to connect to the pre-existing transmission system, for a combined length of 10.5 km. Once the tender results are formalised, Terna will have 24 months to construct and commission the three power lines. The total value of the contract, calculated on a thirty-year basis, is estimated by UTE at $ 230 million.
