The TR7600 SII AXI System Wins Best in Test Award

Taipei, Taiwan-February 2, 2012-Test Research, Inc. (TRI), a leading test and inspection systems provider for the electronics manufacturing industry, today announced that Test & Measurement Worldhas honored the TR7600 SII Automated X-Ray Inspection System with a 2012 Best in Testaward in the Machine Vision/Inspection category. The awards winners were selected by the editors of Test & Measurement World.

The TR7600 SII answers the increasing demand for 3-D x-ray inspection of PCB assemblies. Three times faster than Test Research's previous-generation TR7600, it combines the company's digital tomosynthesis technology and TR7600 SII software to allow measurements to be taken at various slice heights during a single inspection cycle. Users can optimize settings with selectable resolutions (20 µm, 15 µm, 10 µm, and 5 µm) to inspect 0210 and 01005 passive devices and microBGAs. Use of multiple resolutions in a single test minimizes cycle time while improving test effectiveness on fine-pitch parts. The Block Scan function modifies existing inspection programs so any area of a test board can be rescanned using different conditions like a higher resolution, power, or current setting and source/detector offset for inspecting 01005 chips, mirror BGAs, and special connectors.

The program comprises three main categories - the Best in Test Product Awards, the Test of Time awards, and Test Engineer of the Year award. The 2012 Best in Test Product Awards recognize innovations released between November 1, 2010 and September 30, 2011 that have made an especially significant contribution to the test industry.

Each year finalists are selected from among the nominees by Test & Measurement World's editors, after which Test & Measurement World's engineering audience are invited to vote for the winners using an online ballot. Test & Measurement World then uses a combination of these audience votes and balloting by its editorial staff to determine the Best in Test and Test of Time winners.
