Amplifying the important messages shared around the country on National Manufacturing Day, Dow today announced the release of its Advanced Manufacturing Plan for Pennsylvania, continuing the Company’s strong advocacy for this critical sector. The Advanced Manufacturing Plan (AMP) for Pennsylvania is a comprehensive set of policy recommendations aimed at driving increased manufacturing investment and economic vitality across the Commonwealth.

"Dow has long been a vocal advocate for advanced manufacturing and the power it has to spur economies at the local, state, and national level. This holds true in Pennsylvania,” said Kevin Kolevar, Dow Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy. “With the right plan and focus, Pennsylvania has the opportunity to build on its strengths and create the environment that encourages growth and investment.”

"As Dow demonstrated with the opening of our state-of-the-art Northeast Technology Center in Collegeville in 2013, we are committed to Pennsylvania and doing our part to grow the state’s economy,” Kolevar continued “This plan offers a manufacturing-focused policy agenda aimed directly at revitalizing the sector with the ability to create jobs, value and growth.”

Specifically, the Pennsylvania AMP delivers insight into the issues that impact manufacturing and detailed recommendations to support and grow the manufacturing sector. The plan identifies key focus areas for state policymakers including:

  • Creating a comprehensive energy plan to fully utilize all of the state’s energy resources
  • Investing in innovation through critical research & development partnerships
  • Competing for investment with an attractive tax and regulatory environment
  • Creating a long-term strategy for infrastructure investment
  • Educating the workforce of tomorrow

"Pennsylvania's energy abundance is a tremendous asset, but it is not a complete or long-term strategy for encouraging investment,” said Peter Gudritz, Director of Northeast State Government Affairs & Community Engagement. “A focus on innovation, education, infrastructure, and the cost of doing business in Pennsylvania is critical for competing both at the national level as well as in the increasingly competitive global marketplace. We look forward to working with policymakers and other stakeholders to drive this agenda forward."
