ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION AND TREE GIVEAWAY IN GALENA, KANSAS

JOPLIN, MO - April 24, 2014 - In recognition of Arbor Day, The Empire District Electric Company invites customers to receive a complimentary tree at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, in the parking lot of Ortho Four States in Galena, Kansas. A variety of beautiful trees specifically selected to suit local growing
conditions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Empire foresters will be on hand to provide information about the importance of planting the right tree in the right place.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Empire as a Tree Line USA Utility for demonstrating best practices in utility arboriculture. To receive this special designation, a utility must follow quality tree care standards, provide annual worker training, and participate in tree planting, public education, and tree-based energy conservation efforts.
