NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2014 - The New York Times has announced a new event series to bring game-changing innovators in the arts, media and technology on stage for engaging discussions with New York Times journalists before live, local audiences in states throughout the Western U.S.

The series debuts this fall with its first event Oct. 29 in San Francisco for a conversation between acclaimed writer Dave Eggers and New York Times Book Review editor Pamela Paul. The event is timed to coincide with the publication of "By the Book: Writers on Literature and the Literary Life from The New York Times Book Review," in which Mr. Eggers is featured.

"Look West" will host a second event this year in Los Angeles, to be announced soon, and has slated at least two additional events in the Western U.S. for spring of 2015.

The New York Times's "Look West" series is presented by Bank of the West.

"With so many talented innovators in media, technology and the arts hailing from the West, our new event series, in collaboration with Bank of the West, is the perfect way to bring these innovators together with our audiences throughout the Western U.S.," said Yasmin Namini, SVP, chief consumer officer, The New York Times. "We're looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic conversation with Dave Eggers and to announcing additional events in new Western cities in the months to come."

"We've been longtime fans of how The New York Times has curated global dialogues among their own journalists and the world's most interesting thinkers and leaders, and we're thrilled to now be working with them," said Ann von Germeten, chief marketing officer, Bank of the West. "Through our collaboration, we're building a first-of-its-kind series of truly special experiences that can only be found in the West. We're looking forward to an intriguing, intimate and in-depth series of can't-miss conversations on topics that are uniquely Western in spirit and a perfect fit for our clients and communities."

"Look West" with Dave Eggers and Pamela Paul will take place Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the San Francisco Jazz Center in San Francisco, CA, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. PT. For more information, please visit www.NYTimes.com/LookWest.
