The Dallas Morning News is the First Domestic Publisher to Distribute
the International Weekly and Book Review

NEW YORK, October 17, 2014 - The New York Times (NYTimes.com) today announced that it will begin offering its International Weekly supplement to U.S.-based publishers, starting with an agreement with The Dallas Morning News.

The New York Times International Weekly is an 8- to 16-page supplement from The New York Times that provides coverage of international affairs, business, science, technology and culture. Designed to complement the daily reportage of other publications, the supplementis distributed as a stand-alone section within 36 newspapers in 24 countries.

For four weeks, beginning this Sunday, Oct. 19, the Dallas Morning News will publish the International Weekly supplement, as well as a 12-page Book Review section, in every copy of its Sunday home-delivery edition. After this four-week period, home-delivery subscribers will have the chance to opt in to receive these two sections at the weekly price of $1.99.

Michael Greenspon, general manager, The New York Times News Services and International, said, "The International Weekly serves as a tool that publishers can use to complement their own coverage with valuable reporting, photography and graphics from The New York Times. We plan to offer this opt-in program to other U.S. publishers on a limited basis to help introduce new readers to our world-class journalism and to provide publishers with another potential revenue source."

"We learned from our friends at The Toronto Star that many of their subscribers were enjoying a section devoted to the best of The New York Times's weekly reporting. We are very excited to work with The Times to offer this section to our subscribers," said Jim Moroney III, CEO and Publisher, The Dallas Morning News.

Until now, the International Weekly was published only outside of the U.S., including in four newspapers from Torstar Corporation in Canada. Torstar's Toronto Star was the first to offer a similar opt-in program to their subscribers beginning in 2010.

The New York Times International Weekly features sections including World Trends, Opinion & Commentary, Money & Business, Science & Technology, and Arts & Design. It also includes rotating features and special reports on topics like Health & Fitness, Travel and Styles, among others.
