NEW YORK, June 18, 2014 - The New York Times's Op-Docs returns to IFC Center in New York for an evening of screenings and a live panel with emerging and celebrated short-documentary filmmakers Monday, June 23 , at 7 p.m. ET .  Four weeks later, Op-Docs will make its return to Los Angeles for an evening of Op-Docs screenings and a live filmmaker panel discussion at Film Independent at LACMA, co-presented by The New York Times Film Club, on Tuesday, July 22 , at 7:30 p.m. PT

Op-Docs screenings provide live audiences with the unique opportunities to experience Op-Docs on the big screen, and to hear from and interact directly with their creators.  

Op-Docs at IFC Center in New York - Monday, June 23

Op-Docs at IFC Center will include special appearances by Alan Berliner, director of "56 Ways of Saying I Don't Remember," Judith Helfand, director of "Love and Stuff,"Flora Lichtman, co-director of "The Animated Life of A.R. Wallace," Daniel McCabe, director of "Congo: The Road to Ruin," and Paula Schargorodsky, director of "35 and Single." 

Following the screenings of their documentaries, these directors will join a live discussion with New York Times commissioning editor for Opinion video and Op-Docs series producer and curator Jason Spingarn-Koff.

Op-Docs at IFC Center in New York takes place Monday, June 23 , beginning at 7 p.m. ET .

Op-Docs at LACMA in Los Angeles - Tuesday, July 22

Op-Docs at LACMA will feature several of The Times's most acclaimed Op-Docs, including those created by the following directors, who will also participate in an on-stage panel discussion following the screenings: Joshua Izenberg, director of "Slomo," Paula Schargorodsky, director of "35 and Single," Lucy Walker, director of "Daredevil on a Snowmobile" and Brett Weiner, director of "Verbatim: What Is a Photocopier?" They will be joined by Jason Spingarn-Koff, New York Times commissioning editor for Opinion video and Op-Docs series producer and curator.  Elvis Mitchell, film curator at Film Independent at LACMA, and film critic, will moderate the discussion.

A reception for New York Times Film Club members and the Op-Docs filmmakers will follow the screenings and live panel at the Pavilion for Japanese Art at LACMA.

Op-Docs at LACMA takes place Tuesday, July 22 , at the Bing Theater at LACMA in Los Angeles from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. PT .  The evening is presented by Film Independent at LACMA and The New York Times Film Club.
