LONDON - Thomson Reuters, the world's leading provider of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, has launched the first products in a brand new suite of integrated cloudbased solutions designed to boost the productivity and efficiency of accountants and tax professionals.

Providing real-time, anywhere, anytime access to information, Onvio was unveiled at SYNERGY 2016, the annual Digita user conference, which was held in Birmingham on May 4-5. Onvio brings all tasks together into one online platform to enable practices and their clients to work collaboratively from any mobile device. Offering improved efficiency and flexibility, Onvio embraces the future of cloud applications, helping practices keep pace with today's fast-changing landscape.

Reaction from accountants experiencing Onvio for the very first time at the event was encouraging. Peter Bell from Nottingham's Trident Accountancy is an early adopter of Onvio. He says: 'While it's still early days, I'm confident that, over the next 12 months, the software will definitely save the practice both time and money. I'm really pleased with the way it's going so far. It's particularly helpful that my clients have 24 hour access to their own documents and don't have to rely on me being around to send them over. Having the ability to administer digital signatures on tax returns in future will also be a big help.'

Andrew Flanagan, managing director of Digita, part of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, said: 'Significant investment has been made in the development of Onvio, our flagship brand for cloud solutions, to help accountants improve their businesses by increasing efficiency and productivity through the best workflow design possible.

'The flexibility to access financial information whenever and wherever you are means that accountants can save considerable time and money chasing and updating information. Not only does this deliver major business and profitability improvements from the efficiency gains alone, the end-client also benefits from greater communication with their accountant and the ability to upload documents on an ongoing basis rather than having to be chased or leaving it to the last minute.'

There was also very positive reaction to the news that Onvio is being continually developed as part of the company's significant investment and commitment in both its desktop and cloud-based technology. 'The cloud is the future of accountancy and we are really pleased with the reaction to Onvio so far and excited about what more is to come,' added Andrew.

For practices already using Digita products, Onvio integrates seamlessly and there is no additional cost for migration. As part of the company's continual investment into its cloud and desktop offerings, additional products will be added to the Onvio suite over the next few years. At time of the SYNERGY launch, key Onvio features included:

  • Onvio Documents: Secure document storage and exchange which enables accountants and their clients to source and share documents anytime, anywhere
  • Onvio Client Centre: A fully-customisable and secure online client portal for the easy exchange of documents and workflow collaboration. Includes time-saving e-signature capability Thomson Reuters Launches New Onvio Advanced Cloud Solution for Real-time Accounting
  • Onvio Time and Billing: Simple, flexible tracking methods for time and expenses and the ability to create invoices and provide accounts-receivable tracking.

Digita delivers time-saving efficiencies to over 3,000 tax and accountancy practices in the UK and Ireland. SYNERGY is held annually to help accountants gain the maximum benefits from Digita tax and accounting software, understand the latest issues facing the accountancy industry and discover strategies for practice growth. The two-day conference was attended by more than 170 people and keynote speakers included Jessica Pillow of Pillow May and John Stokdyk of AccountingWeb.
