SEOUL--Posco (005490.SE), the world's third-largest steelmaker by output, said Monday it isn't considering buying ThyssenKrupp AG's (>> ThyssenKrupp AG) steel plants in the U.S. and Brazil.
"We have not considered the acquisition at all, nor received any official contact from the German company," company spokeswoman Ms. Ji-Young Kim said by telephone.
The comment is a response to a German news report that claimed the South Korean steelmaker is among the potential buyers for the assets.
The report also mentioned Brazilian mining company Vale SA (VALE) as one of the other potential bidders.
