Press Release (Aug 08,2015) The death of a contracted worker at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

At 6:25 AM on August 8, 2015, an accident has occurred in which a contacted worker, a male 52 years old, who was cleaning the vehicles used to construct the landside impermeable wall in the soil disposal area at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station was caught his head in the tank hatch placed on the vehicle rear part.

The worker was carried to the emergency medical room in the Entrance Control Building and then at 7:27 AM taken further to the Takano Hospital in Hirono town; however, at 7:56 AM he was confirmed his death by a doctor.

No contamination was found on the body of the contracted worker.

TEPCO prays from the bottom of its heart that his soul may rest in peace and expresses its sincerest condolences for his bereaved family.

TEPCO will strive for preventing recurrence while investigating the details on why this accident has occurred.
