Today, Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Michiaki Hirose, "Tokyo Gas") made the decision to launch the wholly own subsidiary, Tokyo Gas Pipe Network Co., Ltd. (President: Hiroshi Watanuki, "Tokyo Gas Pipe Network"), as a gas pipeline operating company to maintain the existing pipeline network and install new pipelines and the other works related to its pipeline, in April 2018.

Taking into account the business conditions of the city gas market in Japan due to the Gas System Reform such as the deregulation in retail market, Tokyo Gas is launching Tokyo Gas Pipe Network dedicated on the pipeline site operations including maintenance and installation, to reinvent itself to "a competitive and growing gas pipeline operator to operate efficiently and in low-cost ("Lean and Robust gas pipeline operator")", and then, will advance the formulation of the optimized organization for operating. Tokyo Gas Pipe Network is starting the operation in October, 2018.

Under the newly deregulated conditions after reinventing ourselves as a gas pipeline operator, Tokyo Gas is striving for further optimization of operations to realize "a Lean and Robust gas pipeline operator". While with securing transparency, neutrality and fairness in business, Tokyo Gas is making a lot of effort "to supply stably", "to maintain and improve the safety", "to increase use of natural gas" together with retail operators, thereby enabling all customers to safety use city gas.
