Tokyo Gas Submits Letter of Intent to Department of Energy, the Philippines[PDF : 228KB]

Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Michiaki Hirose, "Tokyo Gas") submitted a Letter of Intent ("LOI") to Department of Energy of the Philippines (Secretary: Alfonso G. Cusi,) on 30 October 2017, to express the interest to develop LNG value chain by building its first LNG terminal in the Philippines.

The LOI was submitted by Mr. Hirose to His Excellency Mr. Cusi in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Rodrigo R. Duterte, President of Republic of the Philippines. Introduction of LNG is of an urgent necessity in the Philippines as the country's indigenous gas source, Malampaya gas field, is expected to deplete by 2024. Fully utilizing expertise accumulated throughout the long history of handling LNG, Tokyo Gas aims to develop LNG value chain in the Philippines by building LNG terminal and other related facilities.
