CERAWeek, the "Davos of energy", is taking place in Houston, Texas through March 7. It is an opportunity for Total to share our views on the accelerating pace of change.

As the capital of the U.S. oil industry, Houston is a fitting venue for IHS Energy CERAWeek, the preeminent gathering of energy industry leaders and government officials. The event, which began on Tuesday, offers four days of discussions, meetings and round tables, similar to the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Total is represented this year by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Christophe de Margerie. Alongside Conference Chair Daniel Yergin, distinguished author and expert in energy and international relations, Mr. de Margerie took part in several strategic dialogues on the future of the industry (shale gas, renewable energies, climate) and on major geopolitical issues in the spotlight, such as Russia.

CERAWeek is an annual event that attracts notice well beyond the energy world, not only because of its prominent speakers - including the CEOs of Chevron, ENI and Petrobras; Ben Bernanke, the former Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve System; and Ernest Moniz, U.S. Secretary of Energy - but also because of the topics addressed, from meeting Asian demand to the impact of unconventional oil and gas on North American oil companies to Europe's role.
