TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters), operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, has appointed Homer Hogg to a newly created role of Technical Development Manager for the TA Truck Service and Petro:Lube Truck Service business. Additionally, Homer Hogg was granted a seat on the Board of Directors/Governors of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

In his new position at TravelCenters, Homer will provide the vision and direction for all technical training and curriculum, technical procedures, quality control, tools, and equipment. Homer’s efforts in this area will ultimately serve professional driver customers by accelerating TA and Petro historical processes for continuous improvement in quality of work, safety, short wait times and customer service.

“Despite being consistently and overwhelmingly preferred by drivers, TA Truck Service and Petro:Lube are again raising the bar,” said Skip McGary, Senior Vice President of Truck Service for TravelCenters. “We believe the technical knowledge base created with Homer’s leadership, expertise, hands-on experience and ability to communicate effectively is unparalleled in our business,” McGary continued.

Homer Hogg’s two-year term on the ASE Board of Directors/Governors commenced on January 1, 2015. The ASE’s purpose is to increase consumer confidence in the quality of automotive repairs and promote education and ASE certification within the industry.

Homer first joined TravelCenters in 1982. Prior to that, he spent part of his career as Master Technician and Director of Maintenance Training and Quality Control at a well-respected trucking company. He returned to TravelCenters in 2010 and has been instrumental in cementing the TA and Petro Truck Service reputation as a world-class organization. Homer currently co-hosts a successful radio show called ‘Maintenance Matters,’ which airs the first and third Thursday of each month at 8 a.m. ET on the Dave Nemo Show, which can be heard on the Road Dog Trucking network on Sirius/XM channel 146. He also writes a regular ‘Maintenance Matters’ column in RoadKing magazine, providing best maintenance practices and valuable tips to the trucking industry.

TA Truck Service and Petro:Lube once again dominated the most recent ‘Voted Best’ survey in the Truck Repair categories. Drivers prefer TA Truck Service and Petro:Lube 4 to 1 over the competition for Best Overall Maintenance Shops; 7 to 1 for Most Competent Technicians; 7 to 1 for Most Complete Shops on the Interstate; 4 to 1 for Best Roadside Assistance; and 7 to 1 for Most Trusted to Perform the Job Right. These results are based on a survey of Overdrive magazine readers conducted in the fall of 2014.
