TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters), operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, has announced the opening of the first Black Bear Diner restaurant in the TA and Petro network. This new sit-down, full-service restaurant is located at TA Wheeler Ridge, I-5, Exit 219A/219B (5552 Wheeler Ridge Rd.), in Arvin, California.

Black Bear Diner was recognized as a Top 10 Dining Chain in 2014 by Full Service Restaurant Magazine. The award-winning full-service dining concept offers home-cooked meals that reflect the brand’s small-town roots, including comfort food classics like chicken fried steak, corned beef hash and slow-cooked pot roast. The diner also features a wide selection of dessert favorites such as apple crumb cobbler and chocolate cream pie.

“We are excited to welcome Black Bear Diner to the TA and Petro travel center network,” said John Ponczoch, SVP Restaurant Operations at TravelCenters. “We know drivers welcome variety, quality food, and a comfortable dining experience, and Black Bear Diner provides just that.”

The addition of the full-service Black Bear Diner at TA Wheeler Ridge compliments five quick-serve restaurants.

“Our goal is always to make sure professional drivers feel they can visit our locations, feel welcomed, and find a wide variety of amenities to meet their needs,” shared Tom O’Brien, President and CEO of TravelCenters. “Black Bear Diner’s fresh and homemade menu options are a good fit with the food service philosophy we live by at all of our TA and Petro locations,” he continued.

There are now 65 Black Bear Diner restaurants, located in Colorado and states west. All Black Bear Diner restaurants display a fun, log-cabin and bear-themed atmosphere, and are designed to remind guests that quality and service are key ingredients to every meal.
