TrueBlue Inc., the Tacoma-based company that connects as many as 840,000 people to work annually, congratulated Gov. Jay Inslee today for signing HB 1553, which establishes Certificates of Restoration of Opportunity (CROP). HB 1553 helps to give ex-offenders a second chance by reducing barriers to employment.

“We are extremely gratified that Gov. Inslee has signed HB 1553, which TrueBlue strongly supported, because it gives people who want to turn their lives around, and employers who want to hire them, an important new tool,” TrueBlue CEO Steve Cooper said.

“TrueBlue agrees with the Legislature’s finding that employment is a key factor toward the successful reintegration of people into our community as active members of the workforce. There is a growing shortage of people who can fill needed jobs that many CROP applicants would be well-suited for, and this law gives them the opportunity to build long-term careers and become valuable members of our communities.”
