• The renovation project preserved the most emblematic elements of the hotel while updating its style and introducing new amenities
  • New swimming pools, bars and restaurants, as well as a brand new spa and gym are among the new attractions of the hotel

RIU Hotels & Resorts has just reopened the Riu Palace Punta Cana hotel after an extensive renovation of all its facilities and services. The renovation project introduced new restaurants, swimming pools and amenities, as well as new interior design. At the same time, it preserved the most emblematic elements of the building, originally built in 2006, like its towers and domes, thanks to which it continues to resemble an authentic European palace. With this investment, RIU is completing the renewal of its offer in Punta Cana, where in recent years it has built or renovated its six hotels, in addition to building two water parks.

One of the main changes was in the main building, which now holds a new café and pastry shop called 'Capuchino', as well as the brand-new spa and gym. The renovated lobby, which, in addition to becoming more luminous thanks to the natural light and predominance of white and golden hues, especially stands out. It has new décor with large and spectacular elements that create a grand first impression on arrival and a good memory to take home after departing.

All the rooms, 676 in total, now have a contemporary style that perfectly combines classic wood colonial furniture with a simple, modern look in light hues. All the bathrooms have also been renovated and the bathtubs replaced with large walk-in showers.

The redone garden areas also stand out, having been redesigned to include four modern rectangular swimming pools, one of which, next to the new RiuLand kids' club, now has slides for the youngest members of the family to enjoy. The hotel now offers five bars: a cocktail lounge, 'Los Rosarios'; a lobby bar, 'Daiquiri'; a 24-hours 'Sports Bar'; a poolside bar with a swim-up bar, 'Saona'; and a café, 'Capuchino', that is exclusive to the hotels in the Riu Palace line. It also has a dance floor and outdoor stages.

The Spanish restaurant, 'La Bodega', is the new addition to the gastronomic offer, joining the main buffet, 'La Isabela', the fusion restaurant, 'Krystal', the Japanese 'Yokohama', the Italian 'Luigi' and the steakhouse 'La Altagracia', all with a new design following the renovation.

The Riu Palace Punta Cana is part of RIU's Punta Cana complex, along with the Riu Palace Bavaro, Riu Naiboa, Riu Bambu and the Riu Palace Macao. All the guests at the complex can also enjoy the Splash Water World water park located in the same resort.
