Analyst Update: New Appointment, Product Launch, Financial Results, and Acquisitions

U.S. stocks closed lower on Wednesday after Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen warned investors over elevated valuations of U.S stocks and associated potential risks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.48%, to close at 17,841.98, the S&P 500 fell 0.45%, to 2,080.15, and the NASDAQ Composite ended the session at 4,919.64, down 0.40%. Reflecting Janet Yellen's statement, European stocks saw only a modest gain on Wednesday. Germany's DAX 30 gained 0.20%, France's CAC 40 rose 0.15%, and the London's FTSE 100 closed only 0.09% higher on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Asian markets faltered again on Wednesday, depressed by weak earnings in Australia and disappointing U.S. economic data. The Shanghai Composite, Australia's S&P ASX and South Korea's KOSPI all closed lower on Wednesday.

J. C. Penney, on April 28, 2015, announced that Mary Beth West, a highly accomplished consumer marketing executive, will join the Company's executive leadership team as Executive VP and Chief customer and Marketing Officer, effective June 1, 2015. Mary Beth, who has been a member of the Company's Board of Directors since 2005, will leave her position on the Board to assume this new role.

InterCloud Systems announced the launch of NFVGrid, a Network Functions Virtualization Orchestration platform on May 4, 2015. InterCloud's Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) offering (an ETSI NFV ISG framework based NFV and Cloud orchestration platform) provides multi-vendor cloud and NaaS.

Nokia on April 30, 2015 announced its interim financial report for the first quarter of 2015. The Company reported net sales of EUR 3.2 billion in Q1 2015, up 20% YoY. Non-IFRS diluted EPS in Q1 2015 came in at EUR 0.05 as compared to EUR 0.04 in Q1 2014.

On May 4, 2015, Microsoft announced a range of new products and services that help IT professionals lead their companies in the new era of enterprise computing, including the next generation of Windows management, Microsoft Office, hybrid cloud infrastructure and SQL Server.

Twitter on April 28, 2015 announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire TellApart, a leading marketing technology company providing retailers and e-commerce advertisers with unique cross-device retargeting capabilities through dynamic product ads and email marketing. The acquisition deal is expected to close on or around June 1, 2015, subjected to the completion of customary conditions.
