Berlin, 29-09-2016 Münchner Grund Immobilien Bauträger GmbH - the German subsidiary of UBM Development AG - is building a Super 8 Hotel with 216 rooms at Hafenallee II in Zollhafen Mainz.

A new hotel construction is underway on a 1,580 sqm plot at Hafenallee II in the urban development area Zollhafen Mainz. UBM's subsidiary Münchner Grund is building a new 'Super 8' hotel in a top location at the port; it will have a total gross floor area above ground of around 7,800 sqm. The lease agreement with the tenant GS-Star GmbH has now been signed and the contract has a 20-year term.

Part of the ground floor of the five-storey building will offer commercial space for a corresponding purpose. The location right next to upcoming Zollhafen tram stop is another argument in favour of the further reinvigoration of the port area and for the successful operation of the Super 8 business budget hotel.

Christian Berger, Managing Director of Münchner Grund, on concluding the agreement: 'The early leasing of the hotel building is a clear testament to the excellent location of our project. The Mainz hotel market has shown strong demand, which fits with our concept perfectly. This success confirms our strategy in the hotel sector and is a continuation of the recently realised hotels under the Holiday Inn brand in Frankfurt, Mainzer Landstraße and at the airport. In future we will continue to strengthen our activities in the Rhine-Main region - also in the residential sector and buildings for commercial use'.

Michael Bungardt, Managing Director of GS Star GmbH, adds: 'With the Super 8 Mainz Zollhafen in this exceptionally attractive location in Mainz, we are delighted to be able to expand the existing cooperation between Münchner Grund as the developer and lessor and our exclusive partner the Wyndham Hotel Group as franchisor. The Zollhafen is an ideal location for us thanks to its location on the docks and the Rhine, as well as its direct proximity to the new tram stop.'

Colliers International Hotel Berlin acted as the broker for the conclusion of the contract. Münchner Grund was advised by Zirngibl Langwieser from Munich. KPMG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH acted as consultants for GS Star.

The new construction, whose facade stands out for its brickwork design, blends in very well with its surroundings. The architecture firm Turkali Architekten, Frankfurt, succeeded against six other renowned firms in the qualification procedure with their sophisticated concept. The hotel building is set to be certified in accordance with DGNB, the German Sustainable Building Council. The plot was acquired by Zollhafen Gesellschaft at the end of 2015. Münchner Grund will also develop and erect an apartment building in the direct vicinity of the hotel building; this plot has already been purchased.
