In April 2015, residents of 14 villages in 10 oblasts of Ukraine got access to broadband Internet from Ukrtelecom. The Operator continues to implement its strategy of geographical expansion of the Internet coverage in small settlements. Since the beginning of the year, Ukrtelecom has provided unlimited Internet to 138 villages and urban-type settlements in 21 oblasts of Ukraine

In April, two broadband Internet sites were put into operation in Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy oblasts. Besides, access to the unlimited Internet was provided to villages in Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Poltava, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi oblasts.

"Currently, Ukrtelecom remains virtually the only operator having been systematically working for several years to provide small and remote settlements in rural areas throughout Ukraine with unlimited Internet access. Ukrtelecom Internet is popular among private customers and small and medium businesses. We pay particular attention to social infrastructure: we provide Internet to schools, healthcare facilities, and local authorities. The Company continues to implement programs aimed at eliminating the digital divide between urban and rural areas, providing as many Ukrainians as possible with unlimited access to the world of digital technology," stated Denys Zakharenko, B2C Director of Ukrtelecom JSC.

It is worth noting that this year's February meeting of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Paris recognized the development of broadband access as one of the priorities of the United Nations after 2015 as part of new sustainable development roadmap.

According to The State of Broadband 2014 research conducted by ITU, Ukraine is ranked as the 79th regarding broadband penetration, and 101stregarding mobile Internet penetration. According to these data, our country is still behind the majority of CIS countries.

We remind you that, following the results of 2014, Ukrtelecom increased broadband unlimited Internet coverage in rural areas by more than 50%.
